Olmsted Collection

The Frederick Law Olmsted Society of Riverside has established a permanent collection of books and materials relevant to Frederick Law Olmsted and his works at the Riverside Public Library. The collection contains materials by and about Olmsted, his work, American landscape architecture and design, as well as books about Riverside history and development. Some items in the collection may be checked out. Rare materials may only be used in the library.

Riverside Authors

Local authors are invited to donate a copy of their book to be included in our Riverside Authors Collection. These books are located in our Quiet Reading Room overlooking the river, and may be checked out. Contact the library director for more information:

Local History

The library maintains a collection of books and materials about the history of Riverside, Cook County, and Illinois. Materials include, but are not limited, to books, historical files, and local newspapers on microfilm going back to 1912. Most materials are for in-library use only, but some books circulate. Contact the Information Services Department for more information.
