Museum Passes
History and culture that excite and inspire, hands-on discovery that educates and entertains - all of these and more are waiting for you at the Riverside Public Library. Get free admission or a special discount, depending on the location, at participating museums and cultural institutions. Come by the library for a Museum Adventure Pass if you're looking to explore destinations throughout the Chicago suburbs. Use your library card and PIN to reserve an Explore More Illinois pass online for state-wide destinations.

Note: Passes can be checked out through your home library; Each museum's pass differs and indicates any restrictions that may apply; Passes are available on a first-come, first-served basis; One Museum Adventure pass may be checked out per museum, per person or family member, per loan period; Explore More Illinois allows for three active passes at a time.
Notary Service
Notary service is available at no charge to Riverside residents. There is a $1/per notary signature charge for non-residents.
You need an appointment for notary services.
You can request an appointment by emailing informationservices@riversidelibrary.org or by calling 708-442-6366.
Requesting an appointment does not guarantee availability. A staff member will reach out within two business days to confirm your request.
Preparing for you appointment:

Bring a current, unexpired photo identification with a signature, issued by a U.S. state or federal government.

Do not sign or date your document ahead of time. It must be signed in the presence of the notary.

If additional witnesses are required, users must provide their own witnesses. Witnesses may not be solicited from staff or other people using the Library.

Bring a complete document with all blank spaces, with the exception of the signature and date, filled out. Notaries cannot notarize partial documents or a document with blank spaces.
Notary Guidelines

At this time, we do not have bi-lingual notary services. All services and documents must be in English. Additionally, the law does not permit notaries permitted to communicate with a customer through a translator.

Notaries will not notarize documents that do not follow appropriate regulations.

Notaries cannot give legal advice or prepare documents for you.

If you are signing for someone on their behalf, you are required to bring Power of Attorney documentation.

In accordance with Illinois natorial law, patrons receiving notary services must sign the notary public record book. Service for patrons who decline to sign the record book will not be provided.

Notaries will not provide service if the requestor, document or circumstance of the request for notary public service raises any issue of authenticity, ambiguity, doubt or uncertainty for the Library. In this event, the notary public may, at their sole discretion, decline to provide notary public service.
Notary staff are unable to notarize:

Real estate transactions

Visa and immigration paperwork

Documents from foreign governments
-
Vital records, including birth, death, marriage, or divorce certificates, and citizenship or naturalization certificates.

Certified copies of identification

I-9 Employment Eligibility Verification forms
The Library does not charge a fee for notary public services to Riverside residents. If you are not a Riverside resident, there is a $1.00 charge per notary signature.

Notary service is not available 15 minutes before the library closes.

The requestor must provide the notary with a valid form of photo identification, such as a current driver's license, military ID or passport.

The Library provides only basic notary public services.

Documents to be notarized must be in English.

Notaries public cannot certify true copies of passports or drivers licenses.

Notary service is not available for mortgages or other real estate closing documents.

Certain public documents cannot be copied and notarized. Examples of these are birth certificates, death certificates and marriage certificates.

The Library does not provide witnesses and witnesses may not be solicited from staff or patrons using the Library. In order to serve as a witness, the witness must personally know the person whose document is being notarized and must be in possession of valid photo identification.

Test Proctoring

Scanning and Faxing
Scanning and faxing are available for free at our public copier.
Homebound Service
Through a partnership with People Care Inc., homebound library services are available to Riverside residents who are over 60 and physically unable to visit the Library in person. Library staff will select books, movies and other materials for those registered for the service. Volunteers with People Care Inc. will provide delivery and pickup of library materials.
