3D Printing

Our Toybox printers are the perfect way to introduce adults and children to 3D printed projects.

Submitting a 3D Print Job

Staff complete most 3D print jobs. All you need to do is visit the Toybox catalog and find something you want created. You can also design something from scratch in Toybox. We can't print Toybox exclusives or anything that requires payment (bolts).

Submit your 3D printing request using our online form or by emailing us at thespot@riversidelibrary.org. We'll let you know when your creation is ready. Please allow up to 2 weeks to complete.

Costs

Print times are listed in the Toybox catalog. The cost to print is $0.50 for 30 minutes of printing. Billing is done in 30 minute increments (i.e. a 45 minute print cost $1). Payment is collected at item pick-up.

You can also pay using Creation Credits.

3D Print Appointments

If you would like to design a project here, watch a project come to life, or if you have a large 3D print job that you need to complete, make an appointment to use the Spot or email thespot@riversidelibrary.org.

Creation Credit Punch Cards

What is a Creation Credit Punch Card?

Make crafting easier for kids and teens who love creating, but don't always carry cash. For $5, you can pre-pay for your 3D printing or purchase button supply kits. Each card includes ten $0.50 punches, plus an extra punch for free.

What Can I Do with One Punch?

Each $0.50 punch can be used for up to 30 minutes of 3D printing ($0.50 minimum) or to purchase supplies to make 2 buttons. You can use multiple punches for longer projects.

How Do I Purchase A Card?

Go to the Circulation desk to purchase a Punch Card. Put your (or your child's) information on the Card. Cards will be stored at the Library in The Spot so you don't need to worry about them getting lost.

TOYBOX FAQ

Can I print something outside of the Toybox catalog?

You can upload .stl, .obj, .3mf, or.gcode files to the Toybox. The Toybox platform will slice and format the file for you. It is the user’s responsibility to ensure that the file will successfully print.

Can I print in more than one color?

Each individual print must use only one color. If a project consists of multiple prints, however, each print can be a different color.

How big can I make a print?

The maximum print size is 70 mm x 80 mm x 90 mm.

Are there things I can’t print?

All requested prints must fall within the Acceptable Use outlined in The Spot Makerspace Use Policy.
