Theme: Riverside’s 150 Years

Riverside-area students in grades 4-12 are invited to enter the Riverside Public Library’s 2024 Poetry Contest. As we prepare to celebrate Riverside’s sesquicentennial in 2025, we ask that you reflect on Riverside’s 150 years.

Explore Riverside. Think about its history. What makes Riverside unique? Poems of any style or length related to this year’s theme are welcome.

Rules: Students in grades 4-12 attending any Riverside or District 96 school may enter. Poems must be original work and free from any information that could identify the student. One entry per student.

Email entries to youthservices@riversidelibrary.org. Student's name, title of poem, grade, school and contact information must be included in the body of the email. Poems must be attached to the email or submitted as a Google Doc with general viewing access granted. Please do not submit a PDF.

Winners will be invited to a poetry reading at the Riverside Public Library. Winning poems may be incorporated, in whole or in part, during the Riverside Sesquicentennial celebration in 2025. A copy of the Entry and Release Form must be submitted to the Library, either digitally or in paper form.

Contest runs June 1 - July 31, 2024.
