Summer Reading
SUMMER… TIME FOR A READING MARATHON!
Last year, 254 Riverside residents
registered for the Library’s Summer Reading Program. These people read
a total of 442 books! Join your friends and neighbors as you GET IN
THE GAME @ the Riverside Public Library. This year we will be
celebrating the Olympics.
When you register you’ll receive a ticket to score with a good book.
Read five books between June 2 and July 26. or, if you wish, listen to
a book on cassette or CD. List your five books and award each a Gold,
Silver or Bronze medal. When you are finished, drop off your list at
the Reference Desk and you will be entered into a drawing to win
fantastic prizes donated by local businesses. Prizes will be on
display in the exhibit case throughout the program.

Reach for the Gold: READ!
Stop by the Reference Desk and pick up a
bibliography each week celebrating a different Olympic host city.
There will also be a display of materials each week. These are the
host cities we will highlight:

Berlin 1936 – June 9 -14
Montreal 1976 – June 16 – 21
Helsinki 1952 – June 23 – 28
Tokyo 1964 – June 30 – July 5
Athens 2004 – July 7 – 12
Sydney 2000 – July 14 – 19
Innsbruck 1964 and 1976 - July 21 - 26 |

BUNCO AND BINGO AT THE LIBRARY
Not just for kids anymore! Join us for adults-only Bingo and Bunco
games this summer in conjunction with our Summer Reading Program, GET
IN THE GAME!
Bring your friends or come alone and enjoy a good
old-fashioned Bingo or Bunco game in our Public Meeting Room. Prizes
will be awarded and a good time guaranteed. BINGO: Thursday, June
19th, 10 - 11 a.m.
BUNCO: Thursday, July 10th, 10 –11 a.m.
(limited to 40 players each date) |
FREE FINES FRIDAYS DURING SUMMER READING
Free Fines Fridays returns during our Summer Reading program
again this year. Every Friday, you can try to “roll your fines away”
with our giant circulation dice. Existing fines and accounts sent to
the collection agency are not eligible.

Riverside
Reads “One Book”
Riverside Reads is back! This year, get
your whole family “in the game” by reading the same book together
(your choice which title). Join us at our “Awards Banquet” on Tuesday,
July 29th and cast your ballot for this Summer’s Best Book. Make your
Family Reading choice together, and read your book aloud, listen to an
audiobook, or family members may read different versions of the book.
Sign up anytime in June! Please R.S.V.P. by July 20th to save your
place at the “Awards Banquet.”
